[2025 Weiwuying International Music Festival] Weiwuying Contemporary Music Ensemble - American Innovations
How can collage music be played to its limits? In Credo in US, CAGE uses montage techniques, blending a phonograph's playback with piano, percussion, and radio broadcasts, for a brilliant and thought-provoking audio experience. DAUGHERTY reconstructs Elvis' iconic songs with modern harmonies and percussion.
In Dance Mobile, THOMAS uses intricate acoustic textures and cadence to depict mobiles' dance-like movement. While studying the score of SCHOENBERG's Chamber Symphony, ADAMS became aware that his son was watching old cartoons from the '50s in the next room. The hyperactive cartoon scores blended with SCHOENBERG's music, leading to the inspiration of this work. The concert also includes the world premiere of Feral by HOLLOWAY, winner of the 2025 Composer Selection.

He is much in demand with major orchestras in Europe and the US and has been successful in building regular partnerships with several well-known orchestras and ensembles, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, WDR Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. Alongside his busy schedule in Germany, he is also frequently asked to conduct some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica della Scala, and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.
In addition, he has worked with some of the most important European and American ensembles for contemporary music, including the Ensemble Modern, London Sinfonietta, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble MusikFabrik, Ensemble InterContemporain, Ensemble Resonanz, Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group, and Steve Reich and Musicians.
After recently having conducted major international orchestras such as the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Rundfunk-Sinfoieorchester Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Gothenburg Symphony, or the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the current season includes appearances with the New York Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Paris, the Radio Symphony Frankfurt, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the SWR Symphony Stuttgart and the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Musica. Brad LUBMAN kicked off the 2023/24 season with Stanley KUBRICK's 2001 A Space Odyssey at the Auditorio Nacional Mexico City, a multimedia project in cooperation with the Southbank Center London, which he already performed with Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.
Brad LUBMAN is founding Co-Artistic and Music Director of the NY-based Ensemble Signal. Their recording of REICH's Music for 18 Musicians on harmonia mundi was awarded a Diapason d'or in June 2015 and appeared on the Billboard Classical Crossover charts. In Spring 2019, he led the ensemble in the premiere of Steve REICH's Reich / Richter as part of the Reich Richter Pärt project at the opening of New York art space The Shed.

She also studied at the National Conservatory in Lyon, France, for an exchange semester with Prof. Carlo COLOMBO. Furthermore, she then enrolled in the International Ensemble Modern Academy, a program collaborated between the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and the renowned Ensemble Modern, where she received her Master's Diploma in Modern Music under the guidance of Johannes SCHWARZ in 2019. She concluded her study with the mentorship provided by Prof. Malte REFARDT at the Folkwangen University of the Arts in Essen. WANG Peng-hui is a founding member of the contemporary ensemble Broken Frames Syndicate. She is enthusiastic about exploring new possibilities in music and art with bassoon and her potential. With a background in classical music, she believes that her obligation as a musician is to use her skills to help contemporary composers find sound and expression that can reflect the culture and thoughts of the current society. In recent years, she has been working with composers to explore the electroacoustic sound of bassoon with the help of electronic signal processing. Besides co-composition, she is also personally involved in musical projects planning and enhancing them with visual arts and dance. Since she has been inspired by the invaluable knowledge of contemporary music that she has learned from various composers and performers ever since her school days, she understands the importance of spreading musical education and has been actively involved in educational programs in Germany and Taiwan in recent years.
