(Program changed) The 19th International Chopin Piano Competition Gold & Silver Medalist-Eric LU & Kevin CHEN Piano Recital
| ※The program has been changed. For more information, please contact +886-7-262-6666. |
The International Chopin Piano Competition is officially organized by the Polish government and focuses exclusively on the piano works of Frédéric CHOPIN. As it involves national prestige, the competition strives for the highest standards of fairness and impartiality. Among all major international competitions, it features the most demanding repertoire and the largest panel of judges. Since 1980, each edition has typically attracted over 130 participants and assembled twenty to thirty jury members.
Held only every five years, the Chopin Piano Competition has the longest interval between editions among the major international piano competitions, and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. The competition is divided into four stages, each requiring participants to perform different types of CHOPIN's works, demanding a comprehensive interpretation of the composer's musical language. With an extensive and diverse repertoire, CHOPIN's music offers a rigorous test of both technical mastery and artistic depth. The highly competitive competition consistently attracts top talent, as many past prize winners—especially gold medalists—have gone on to achieve remarkable careers and lasting prominence in the international music scene, becoming leading figures in the field.
For the 2025 Competition, the jury selected 171 contestants for the preliminary round from among 642 applicants representing twenty-eight countries worldwide. The preliminary round concluded on May 4 at the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall. The final round will take place in October, with the awards ceremony to be held on October 21 at the Grand Theatre, Warsaw. The first prize winner Eric LU and the second prize winner Kevin CHEN will perform in Taiwan after the competition, giving local classical music lovers an early opportunity to witness the extraordinary skill and magnetic stage presence of these global stars.
